Bella has been limping since she took a header on our step down from the kitchen on Saturday, we were keeping her low key and contained to let it mend.

Today she’s at the vet. They are pretty sure it is her front left shoulder; hopefully a sprain, possibly arthritic flare up - she’s 12, but bone tumor was also mentioned.

She’s getting the X-ray and blood panel run right now. I’m sitting with my phone in front of me waiting for a call.

Oppo Doggos unite and send good vibes, she’s fine, but her parents are freaking out.

stay strong. Dogs like to pretend to get treats and attention. Hopefully it’s just a case of the cleaver shenanigans.

Hope she’s ok. Here’s an x-ray of one of my pups (who unfortunately is no longer with me, though because of something unrelated to the x-ray):

Thanks everyone.

Worst case came true, metastasized tumour on her leg. Pain management and 2-3 months at best.

Hugs all around

Doing alright, house it too quiet. Kids are taking it like only kids can, Missy is drawing pics and my son is only upset at bedtime. Wife is taking it the hardest. Time will help. Feels pretty crappy right now though.

Missed this earlier - very sorry to hear it.

We went through a similar situation with one of our dogs several years ago, and I was thankful that we at least got a little time to make the end of his life the most enjoyable we could (spoiling with treats, and love, and as much fun as he could take).

It’s been a tough few weeks, lots of tears and hugs around our place.

This is my 5 year old’s school journal; Bella and Sad Maya.

Poor kiddo - that’s more “real life” than a 5 year old should have to know.

It’s hard because you don’t want to bottle it up, you don’t want them to bottle it up either - but you also don’t want them to be wrecks for a month..

My 7 year old son is doing alright, if he sits and thinks about it he’ll get upset. But he’s back to normal happy kid almost all the time.

5 year old is good, she watches us pretty close and reacts the way we do.

There were a few questions the other night about where Bella was now - we picked up her ashes on the weekend and are planning to spread them this summer at the farm - but we keep it pretty honest with our kids.
